Several times a year, CSOL® volunteers and student scholarship winners join forces to share their love of music with children in the community. Armed with trumpets, trombones, and violins, maybe a flute or French Horn, they assist budding musicians with the proper hand positions and show them how to blow into a mouthpiece. The sounds they create are sometimes pleasing, sometimes surprising, and sometimes not much at all. But, later on, this exposure may lead to a lifelong appreciation for music, either as a performer or as a member of the audience. Someday, perhaps one of these young children will be the recipient of a CSOL® scholarship, a portion of the $30,000 set aside each year to encourage the next generation of musicians.
