Six beautiful private homes on Kiawah Island will be featured on the Charleston Symphony Orchestra League’s (CSOL) 14th Annual Island House Tour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 5th. Each residence is unique, outstanding in architectural and interior design, and a reflection of the varied interests and lifestyles of its owners.
On tour day, the homes will be enhanced by an abundance of fresh floral arrangements, live music provided by CSOL scholarship recipients and Charleston Symphony Orchestra (CSO) musicians, and light refreshments. Ticket holders will enjoy special discounts at area restaurants and stores, and two free concerts at Kiawah Island’s Freshfields Village.
The first free concert on Village Green will feature Kidzymphony, a group of budding musicians from Meeting Street Academy’s kindergarten and first grade, and the Youth Orchestra of the Lowcountry. CSO musicians assist the young people with musical training and private lessons to nurture talent and cultivate appreciation for classical music. The day will conclude with a free CSO concert on the Village Green.
Proceeds from the tour will be used to support the Charleston Symphony Orchestra (CSO), as well as helping to provide music scholarships for student and professional musicians throughout the Lowcountry. Advance tickets are available for $40 at csolinc.org, at the Kiawah Island Visitors Center and at Indigo Books in Freshfields Village. Day-of tickets will be priced at $45. KIDZYMPHONY JOINS YOUTH ORCHESTRA OF THE LOWCOUNTRY FOR A SPECIAL PERFORMANCE AT THE SYMPHONY TOUR OF HOMES ON KIAWAH ISLAND
The Charleston Symphony Orchestra League’s 14th Annual Symphony Tour of Homes on Kiawah Island will include a performance by its youngest musicians ever, kindergarten and first grade students from Kidzymphony, a unique orchestra program by the Charleston Academy of Music in collaboration with the Meeting Street Academy. That concert is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on November 5, on The Green at Freshfields Village.
Kidzymphony musicians will sit “side-by-side” their counterparts in the highly selective Youth Orchestra of the Lowcountry. This kind of collaboration is at the heart of this program for children from diverse backgrounds; it aims to nurture talent, boost self-esteem, and cultivate an appreciation for classical music.
Organizers said it’s a “natural fit” for these students to take part in the CSOL Island Tour because Kidzymphony relies on Charleston Symphony players who assist with musical training and private lessons, and, of course, the Island Tour is a fundraiser for music scholarships, as well as support for the CSO.
