Amos Lawrence featured in Concert for

David and Karen Stahl Memorial Scholarship

 

Violinist Amos Lawrence, former Assistant Concertmaster of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, will return to Charleston from Brookline, Massachusetts to perform a benefit concert for the David and Karen Stahl Memorial Scholarship on Sunday, February 19 at 4 p.m. at the Circular Church on Meeting Street. The scholarship, established in memory of the longtime CSO conductor and his wife, is given annually to a high school senior who plans to major in music.

The performance will include Beethoven’s Sonata #3 in E flat opus 12 and 13, Sonata #3 in D minor opus 108 by Johannes Brahms, Tzigane by Maurice Ravel, Beau Soir by Claude Debussy/Jascha Heifetz, Mediterranean by Arnold Bax/Jascha Heifetz, and will conclude with Serenata by Ottorino Respighi. Following the concert, there will be a reception honoring Lawrence and Chee-Hang See of the College of Charleston, who will be playing the piano.

Along with the CSO, Lawrence has performed at the Brevard Music Center, the College of Charleston, and the Tennessee Valley Strings Camp. He holds Master’s Degrees in Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music and the New England Conservatory of Music and has also studied at the North Carolina School of the Arts. He lived in Charleston for 19 years while performing with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. He is also known for having played more than 25 performances of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons in Piccolo Spoleto.

Tickets priced at $20 will be available at the door.
